Parish Music Team

At St Stephen's you will meet a variety of music at regular services.  The focus of our music ministry is the 10.00 Parish Eucharist on Sundays, where worship regularly includes hymns accompanied by the organ or piano, and music for other instruments covering a variety of styles from chant to jazz and beyond.

The present music team includes people with a wide variety of talents:

Luke Priday trained as an organist in Queensland and enjoys contributing to parish life.  Our organ is a wonderful instrument, built by Walkers, a famous English firm, and dates from 1865.  Luke helps worshippers to enjoy its rich sound each Sunday.

Ed Fairlie
is a man of many parts.  He plays several instruments, and often accompanies contemplative moments in the service.  He leads many of the Taize chants sung during our communion fellowship.  His meditative pieces have an immediacy to them, a live musical prayer.

Elizabeth Howie
plays piano in the Eucharist, supporting the team with much love and encouragement.

Professor Garry Warne
is another organist.  He was for many years organist at Holy Advent, Armadale.

Ken Brandt
leads the Jazz Group that meets each Wednesday. Only a recent beginner, Ken is keen to add trumpet when needed.

Sean Oliver
is well known in the Scouting movement for his work with young musicians.
