Vicar

Bishop Philip informed the Vestry on Tuesday evening [10 June] of his resignation as Vicar of St Stephen’s Richmond His resignation, which he has delivered to the Archbishop, is to take effect immediately. We have been aware for some time of the huge workload Philip has endured over the past twelve months or so, a consequence of his taking responsibility for the Northern and Western region of the diocese. In his announcement, Philip referred to the difficulties he had experienced during this time in attempting to carry out his responsibilities both as vicar and regional bishop with responsibility for 70 parishes together with other Anglican organisations.] He expressed his gratitude to those who had kept the parish operating smoothly in his absence, especially Fr Stuart and Fr David, the wardens, vestry and members of the congregation.
